Replacing the missing teeth with dental implants has many advantages. Not only do dental implants look and sound like your natural teeth, but they work like that, too.
Nonetheless:
It appears to have a negative connotation every time the word “surgery” is associated with something. A lot of our patients ask us during dental implant surgery, Is it painful to get dental implants?
The starting phase of the dental implant
First, let’s go through a dental implants in India surgical stage:
- Phase 1: Local anesthesia can make you numb. We will not begin the procedure until the region of the tooth is totally numb.
- Step 2: In your gums and jaw bone, a room is created for the titanium post (the dental implant). In order to precisely position implants for consistent and long-lasting outcomes, our dentists use 3D computerized planning.
- Step 3: Inserting and securing the post. To keep it stable as it recovers for the next few months, a cap is put on top. Often, to help your gums heal, you can need a stitch or two.
How long does it take to recover?
Most patients are happily shocked by how simple dental implant surgery is and think it easier to remove a tooth than to get it.
The next day, you should prepare to get back to work or your everyday activities.
We recommend taking over-the-counter pain relievers like Advil if you start to experience some soreness. Avoiding hard foods is safest, similar to other dental treatments, and using an ice pack will help with the swelling.
For a dental implant to connect with your bone, it may take four or more months to heal. You will be ready for the next step once it is completely healed: the crown reconstruction, which will look like a natural tooth and can be completed right in our office.
What to expect when you are healing?
After the anesthesia wears off, you should anticipate some tenderness. It is not unmanageable, though. For any discomfort encountered during the healing process, your dentist would possibly recommend that you take an over the counter pain reliever. It is critical that you obey any aftercare points your dentist distributes. The following can include this:
- For 24-hours after surgery, stop straws.
- For 2 to 3 days, expect some mild swelling.
- Rinse 3 to 4 times daily with salt water the day after.
- In the first 48 hours, avoid overly warm food.
- For 24-48 hours, adhere to a liquid diet.
- For at least three days after surgery, stop smoking.
- For any pain, use Tylenol®.
For everyone, recovery and healing will be different. The opinion is that in either the operation or rehabilitation, you do not have much discomfort. You should seek medical attention or arrange an appointment with your dentist for follow-up if you have pain, particularly days later. Although surgery is not considered to be pain-free, one of the most accessible operations to have is dental implants. Most patients perceive the discomfort to be much less than getting a tooth extracted.
